The West Berkshire Living Landscape is effectively maintaining the quality and connectivity of local wildlife habitats and keeping people connected to this wonderful, precious resource we have on our doorstep; constantly reminding us all of the intrinsic value of our Living Landscape.
The West Berkshire Living Landscape helps ensure we continue to enjoy and be uplifted by hearing the early song thrush, seeing the first swift arriving, the plop of a frog into a pond, smelling the ‘coconut’ of gorse, seeing bats swooping overhead at dusk, the delicate flutter of a bright butterfly and the glimpse of a hedgehog disappearing under a hedge.
The West Berkshire Living Landscape helps keep people healthier and thereby reduces the burden on our health system. It provides skills and knowledge for people looking for employment. Volunteers contribute a huge amount to the local environment giving many hours of their time for free while enjoying exercise in the fresh air.
The West Berkshire Living Landscape gives people many ways to get involved and feel part of the past and future of their local landscape. It brings people together, from all ages and backgrounds, to have fun, work hard, learn and keep healthy in a very simple way.
