Our vision is to create a landscape within which wildlife thrives and people prosper together in a clean, healthy and sustainable environment. The river valleys will be of high quality, reflecting the landscape enclosing them. Native flora and fauna will thrive on the riverbanks and within clean river water. The surrounding land will be managed in an effective way for both commercial and ecological purposes through strong working relationships with the farming community and businesses. Wildlife habitats will be interconnected leading to an expansion in the range and abundance of key species.
This scheme will create, maintain, improve and reconnect important wildlife habitats and undertake work to benefit species across a suite of sites to help create a better ecologically functioning network and help to improve water quality within the rivers and streams. This project will improve the essential ecosystem services that wildlife habitats provide, such as flood alleviation and improvement of water quality. This helps to deliver Water Framework Directive and Habitat Directive objectives as well as improving riparian and associated habitats for European, UK, and Welsh priority species.
This scheme will engage with the local communities within the Living Landscape area to encourage and support interaction with the natural environment, including events and offering volunteering and skills training opportunities, enabling people to understand, value and cherish the landscape as a whole, recognising it as a vital and integral element of their lives, important for their health and wellbeing.
